MCCOMB – Area slowpitch softball teams begin playing for keeps this weekend, with the start of Classic Games. The McComb Classic is Saturday and seven teams are participating: McComb, Brookhaven, Bogue Chitto, Franklin County, West Lincoln, Lawrence County and South Pike.

Action begins at 9 a.m. on the softball field located next to Okten Elementary School. McComb coach Cody Hall said fans should bring their own chairs because bleacher seating is limited.

Hall said the games will last 7 innings. A coin toss will determine the home team. Teams are asked to warm up in advance in the area behind right field so the games may begin on time.

In the opener, Bogue Chitto plays McComb. Brookhaven faces South Pike at 10:15 a.m., followed by Bogue Chitto versus Brookhaven at 11:30.

At 12:45 p.m., South Pike plays Franklin County. West Lincoln meets Lawrence County at 2, followed by Franklin County vs. Lawrence County at 3:15. West Lincoln plays McComb in the 4:30 finale.
