For the second year in a row, King’s Daughters Medical Center has been named one of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare magazine.

The healthcare industry magazine’s annual Best Places to Work in Healthcare program recognizes employers for creating workplaces in healthcare that enable employees to perform at their optimum level and provide patients and customers with the best possible care.

King’s Daughters is the only healthcare employer in Mississippi to get on this prestigious list of the top 100 medical care providers. The magazine will reveal a ranked list of the top 100 for 2013 at a banquet Oct. 24 in Atlanta.

The magazine will post a video of the event at www.modernhealthcare.com/bestplaces. A special supplement to the magazine showing the rankings will be published Oct. 28.

King’s Daughters Medical Center CEO Alvin Hoover said in a press release that the hospital’s employees and board members deserve the credit.

“This is a great award for KDMC,” he said. “It’s a reflection of the hard work and dedication by our employees and medical staff, and the leadership of our board and management team.”

Director of marketing at KDMC David Culpepper agrees.

“The award comes through our employees and the fact that they have dedicated their lives to giving great care,” he said.

Vice president and publisher of Modern Healthcare Fawn Lopez said in the news release that receiving the award means KDMC’s outstanding performance should be a model for other healthcare employers.

“[It] demonstrates that King’s Daughters Medical Center has built a culture where employees are supported and engaged,” the release reads. “Which benefits not only patients and customers, but the employer’s financial performance as well. These healthcare employers are models for others who are seeking to build a successful culture.”

King’s Daughters human resource director Celine Craig said, “Best Places to Work 2013 is an awesome award that recognizes our people who are making this a great place to work.”

Modern Healthcare partnered with Best Companies Group, a firm that administers “best places to work” programs nationwide. Modern Healthcare began this program to recognize outstanding employers in the healthcare industry on a national level. They look at aspects of employers such as economic development and employee retention.

The program collected information from both the employers and employees and was open to all healthcare companies in the U.S. with at least 25 employees.
