Graveside services for Fred Lamar Melton of Bogue Chitto are 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Palo Alto Cemetery in Louisiana. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Melton, 66, passed away Aug. 18, 2013 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven. He was born on July 3, 1947 to M.O. Melton and Francis Hanna Melton.

He was a retired pipe welder for Denbury Resources where he was also a member of Pipewelder Union Local 198 of Baton Rouge. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Brookhaven.

Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his parents, M.O. and Francis Melton; son, Butch Melton; daughter, Sandy Melton; and his brothers, Bud and Mike Melton.

He is survived by his wife, Frances McNeely Melton; sons, Kelly T. Melton, Kevin L. Melton and stepson, Ricky Reynolds; stepdaughter, Debra Smith; brothers, Reggie Melton and David Melton; and sisters, Linda King and Dean Welborn. He is also survived by six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
