Jack Herbert Alexander

Jack Herbert Alexander, 73, of Jackson, La. passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, La. He was born Dec. 23, 1939, in Lake Village, Ark., to Ernest E. (Pete) Alexander and Hazel Davis Alexander.

He was a retired correctional officer at Angola LSP, with 22 years service, and former truck driver with Fred Netterville Lumber Company.

He is survived by his daughter, Nicky Case and husband, Jerry; son, Johnny Knight and wife, Shannon; four grandchildren, Mitzi Case, Meagan Case, Justin Knight and Garlen Kinght; four great-grandchildren; his mother, Hazel Golden; two sisters, Joann Starnes and husband, Jerry, and Charlotte Alexander;

three brothers, Ricky Golden and wife, Lois, Bill Hornbeck and wife, Betty, and Gary Alexander; and his special friend, Patsy Hale, who helped care for him in the last two years of his life.

Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by his father, Ernest E. (Pete) Alexander; his wife, Glenda Alexander; one brother, Joe Golden; one sister, Dianne Hinton; and his stepfather, Lester Golden.

Visitation is at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty on Friday, August 23, from 5 until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Gillsburg Memorial Cemetery, with Angola Louisiana State Prison Honor Guard serving as pallbearers. Funeral services will be officiated by the Rev. Benji Pyeatt.
