BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats captured a 2-0 victory over the West Lincoln Lady Bears Thursday night in slowpitch softball action.

“Defense was the key in getting the win,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “On offense, our bats were a little cool. Overall, the girls did a good job and I am proud of them.”

The Lady Bears (4-4-1) resume action Saturday as they prepare to host a softball tournament. West Lincoln battles Wesson at 9 a.m., follow by McComb at 2 p.m. and Bogue Chitto at 3:15.

The Lady Cats (6-1) are participating in the event. They take on McComb at 10:15 a.m. and Wesson at 11:30 a.m.

Bogue Chitto 2, West Lincoln 0

West Lincoln and Bogue Chitto fans gathered to witness another fierce rivalry as both teams showcased a typical defensive battle.

The Lady Cats manage to capitalize on a couple of West Lincoln’s miscues to gain a 2-0 lead in the second inning and relied on their strong defense to secure the win.

Brooke Myers was the winning pitcher for Bogue Chitto with one strikeout and two walks.

Heather Moak absorbed the setback for the Lady Bears with no strikeouts and no walks.

Mattie Avants, Earlnesheia Dillon, Alexis Givens, Mallory Allen and Terrah Nelson paced the Lady Cats’ offense with a single apiece.

Heather Moak was the offensive leader for West Lincoln with a double and a single. Destiny Allen and Hanna Moak contributed a pair of singles each. Hitting safely were Layton Sills and Bentley Sills.

“Our defense did a great job keeping us in the game,” said WLHS coach Andrew Redd. “When you can hold Bogue Chitto to only two runs, it is a big accomplishment, but we struggled to get our job done at the plate.”

In JV action, Bogue Chitto defeated West Lincoln 6-3.

Lauren McCaffrey tossed the victory for BC with two strikeouts and no walks.

Makennah Redd suffered the setback for WLHS with one strikeout and two walks.

Daley Roberts directed the Lady Cats on offense with three singles. Marshonikique Blackwell and Reagan Kirkland hit two singles apiece.

Anna Brooke Davis led West Lincoln’s offense with a triple. Peyton White, Addie Spring, Cadie Maxwell, Katelyn Travis and Demeshea Deer hit safely.
