Graveside services for Cecil Kenneth Rigdon were 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, with Dr. Danny Lanier, the Rev. Sam Oglesby and the Rev. Lin Chesney officiating. Stephens Funeral Home of Union was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Rigdon, age 85, of Decatur, went to his eternal home on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 at Rush Hospital in Meridian. He was a retired salesman, a member of Northcrest Baptist Church and served his country in the U.S. Marines during World War II.

Survivors include his two daughters, Diane Dundis of Omaha, Neb., and Susan Hertzberg of Clarinda, Iowa; two sons, Glenn Rigdon of Shenandoah, Iowa, and David Rigdon of Brookhaven; eight grandchildren; and five sisters, Bonnie Gibbon of Decatur, Lula Hill of Laurel, Rave Patterson of Decatur, Willa Estes of Little Rock and Helen Johnson of Decatur.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Odessia McDaniels Rigdon; a brother, Walter “Sonny” Rigdon; and two sisters, Julia Ann Daniels and Barbara Sue Addy.

Pallbearers were Andy Gibbon, Wayne Lanier, Mark Lanier, Kent Addy, Eugene Johnson and Paul Bounds.
