BC beats Warren Central

The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats captured one victory in the Ole Brook softball tournament Saturday at Hansel King Sportsplex.

The Lady Cats roared past the Warren Central Lady Vikings for a 6-1 victory in game three. BC fell twice in early Saturday slowpitch softball action. In Game One, the North Pike Lady Jaguars edged BC 2-0 and Wayne County rallied to defeat Bogue Chitto 8-6 in Game Two.

“It was a OK day,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “Our hitting stated to pick up, and as the day went it got better.”

The Lady Cats (12-7, 2-1) continue action Tuesday as they host the Lumberton Lady Panthers. Junior varsity begins at 5 p.m., followed by varsity action at 6.

N. Pike 2, BC 0 

McKenzie Brock was the winning pitcher for the Lady Jags with no strikeouts and one walk.

Brooke Myers suffered the setback for the Lady Cats with no strikeouts and one walk.

Mattie Avants and Christian Black was the offensive leader for BC with two singles apiece. Alexis Givens, Jordan McKinney and Alana Nettles hit safely.

North Pike was led on offense by Lauren Wells, Madison Bigner, McKenzie Brock and Jordan Fitzgerald with a single apiece.

Wayne Co. 8, BC 6 

The Lady War Eagles rallied to beat BC in the last inning with a three-run home run.

Myers absorbed the setback for the Lady Cats with two strikeouts and three walks.

Zariah Matthews and Black paced Bogue Chitto’s offense with a double and a single. Colby Kirkland and Avants contributed a pair of singles. Hitting safely were Marshonikique Blackwell, Terrah Nelson, McKinney, Givens and Nettles.

BC 6, Warren Central 1 

Myers tossed the victory for the Lady Cats with no strikeouts and one walk.

McKinney provided the offensive sparked to lead BC with a home run and a single. Matthew and Givens fueled the flames with a pair of singles. Mallory Allen, Black and Avants hit safely.
