Bogue Chitto surpasses McComb

MCCOMB – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats overpowered the McComb Lady Tigers to win 8-3 Tuesday night in slowpitch softball action.

“We hit the ball really well,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “The ball carried really well on a cool night. I was pleased with my girls’ efforts.”

The Lady Cats (14-10, 3-1) continue action Thursday. Bogue Chitto hosts West Lincoln at 2 p.m. for a varsity game only. BC will also entertain Brookhaven for senior night. Junior varsity begins at 5 p.m., followed by varsity action at 6:30.

McComb (6-17, 2-4), coached by Cody Hall, resumes action Thursday. The Lady Tigers will host the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs. Junior varsity begins at 5 p.m., followed by varsity action at 6:30.

Bogue Chitto 8, McComb 3 

The Lady Cats came out and quickly took care of business as they out hit McComb 12-9. BC claimed a commanding 8-0 lead by the fifth inning. The Lady Tigers scored all three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Brooke Myers was the winning pitcher for BC with four strikeouts and one walk.

Leyton Terrell suffered the loss for McComb with one strikeout and one walk.

Christian Black provided the offensive spark to lead Bogue Chitto with a grand slam home run, a solo home run, and two singles. Mattie Avants and Terrah Nelson added fueled to the flames with a pair of singles each. Hitting safely were Earlneshia Dillon, Jordan McKinney, Mallory Allen and Myers.

Terrell was the offensive leader for the Lady Tigers with double and two singles. Katie Kalusche and Shatonia Coney contributed two singles apiece. Paige Brock and Ashley Bonds hit safely.

 In JV action,  Bogue Chitto crushed McComb 14-0.

Lineka Newson and Jaide McKinney directed the Lady Cats’ charge with a double and two singles each. Marshonikique Blackwell continued the onslaught with a pair of doubles. Lauren McCaffrey had a triple and a single. Reagan Kirkland ripped two singles. Baileigh Jackson, Daley Roberts and Carly Leake hit safely.
