Funeral services for Alcus James Montgomery of Brookhaven are 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, at New Sight Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Montgomery, 90, died Oct. 14, 2013, at Silver Cross Home. He was born in Brookhaven on Oct. 14, 1923, to Pearlie Montgomery and Ruthie Smith Montgomery.

He was a retired truck driver for Campbell’s 66 Express and retired custodian from New Sight Baptist Church. He was a member and former Deacon of New Sight Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Helen Walker Montgomery; two brothers, Earl Montgomery and Malcolm Montgomery, and one sister, Mrs. Myrtis Grice.

Survivors are his sons, Harrell Montgomery and wife Vera of Wesson and Carroll Montgomery of Brookhaven; daughter, Dianne Ashmore and husband, Wayne, of Brookhaven; three grandchildren, Kim Leoffler of S.C., Chad Ashmore and Kristy of Magee, and Lauren Reeves and Sam of McComb; five great-grandchildren, Hattie Grace Ashmore, Jack Ashmore, Shaylee Lambert, Kaitlyn Leoffler and Connor Leoffler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Sight Baptist Church Bus Fund.
