Nanih Waiya eliminates BC

BOGUE CHITTO – The Nanih Waiya Lady Warriors knocked off the Bogue Chitto Lady Cats to advance to the 1A South State Championship in 1A slowpitch softball playoff action Saturday.

The Lady Cats roared past the Lady Warriors 11-1 in Game One, before falling 14-12 in Game Two and 8-4 in Game Three.

We played a hard fought series,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “Nanih Waiya has a great team. They turned it on in games two and three. I am extremely proud of our girls. They did a fantastic job continuing our softball tradition here at Bogue Chitto.”

The Lady Cats conclude their season with a 17-14 record overall and finished runners up in the region 8-1A race with a 3-1 worksheet.

In other softball action around the area, East Webster swept West Lincoln (21-7-1, 6-0) in Class 2A action, Choctaw Central eliminates Wesson (20-10, 5-1) from the Class 3A playoffs and West Lauderdale advance past Lawrence County (22-5-1, 5-1) in Class 4A action.

BC 11, Nanih Waiya 1 

The Lady Cats over came a sluggish start to hammer the Lady Warriors in five innings of work.

Brooke Myers was the winning pitcher for Bogue Chitto with no strikeouts and one walk.

Ryan Holdiness suffered the lost for Nanih Waiya with no strikeouts and one walk.

Earlneshia Dillon sparked the Lady Cats with a home run and a triple. Christian Black fueled the flames with a home run and a single. Jordan McKinney and Zariah Matthews contributed a pair of singles each. Hitting safely were Mattie Avants, Mallory Allen, Terrah Nelson and Colby Kirkland.

The Lady Warriors received a single apiece from Brantle Sheets, Katlyn Burrage, Hope Thomas and Allayna Lovorn.

Nanih Waiya 14, BC 12 

In the Game Two, the Lady Cats and Lady Warriors battled hard in a tough contest as BC led 5-3 after three innings of action. Nanih Waiya outscored Bogue Chitto11-6 in the last four innings to tie the series.

Holdiness secured the victory for the Lady Warriors with no strikeouts and four walks.

Myers suffered the setback for BC with no strikeouts and one walk.

Black was the offensive leader for the Lady Cats with a home run. Avants, Allen and Nelson provided a pair of singles each. Dillon had a double. Marshonikique Blackwell, Alana Nettles, Jaide McKinney, Matthews and Myers hit safely.

Krysten Eaves paced the Lady Warriors’ offense with a home run and two singles. Hope Thames, Ryan Holdiness and Burrage helped with three singles apiece. Chelsea Smith and Reagan Holdiness had a pair of singles. Hitting safely were Mackenzie Johnson and Brantlee Sheets.

Nanih Waiya 8, BC 4 

In Game Three, both teams continued to apply their defensive attack as BC secured a 3-2 in the third inning.

Nanih Waiya overpowered the Lady Cats 6-1 blast between the fourth and fifth inning to take the lead and capture the win.

Holdiness was the winning pitcher for the Lady Warriors with one strikeout and four walks.

Myers absorbed the setback for Bogue Chitto with no strikeouts and one walk.

Dillon directed BC’s offense with a double and a single. Black contributed two singles. Jordan McKinney had a double. Avants, Kirkland, Nettles and Myers hit safely.

Thames provided the offensive spark to lead Nanih Waiya with a home run. Ryan Holdiness, Ashley Thames and Sheets fueled the flames with a pair of singles. Hitting safely were Reagan Holdiness, Lovorn and Johnson.
