The sheriff’s department asked The Enterprise-Journal in McComb to share the newspaper’s Saturday report on the alleged con artists with area newspapers since there is a possibility the pair may still be in the region targeting other victims.

McComb sheriff’s officers said Keeley Michael Vice, 39, and his wife Celeste Naquin Vice, 31, are each wanted on felony charges of exploitation and abuse of the elderly and conspiracy to commit exploitation and abuse of the elderly.

The two are believed to be from Chauvin, La.

Pike County Chief Investigator Bruce Fairburn told The Enterprise-Journal the Vices came in contact with an 86-year-old McComb woman Wednesday as she was carrying groceries from her vehicle into her house.

Fairburn said the couple pulled up in front of the victim’s house in a pickup, and the female suspect got out and asked the victim if she needed help carrying her bags into the house.

The elderly woman declined the offer, Fairburn said, but the female suspect went ahead and took the bags and carried them into the house while the male suspect waited in the truck.

Once inside the victim’s house, the female suspect demanded money from the victim, saying the male suspect was going to repair the victim’s roof and would expect payment for the work, the investigator said.

Fairburn said the victim told the suspect she didn’t need the services, but the suspect would not leave until the elderly woman wrote a check for $768. The victim said she was afraid she would be harmed, Fairburn said.

The male suspect went to the bank and cashed the check, Fairburn said. The victim tried to call the bank and warn them, but she was not able to get in touch with anyone in time, Fairburn said.

Keeley Michael Vice was identified as the male suspect by reviewing the bank’s surveillance system recording, according to sheriff’s officers.

Officers described Keeley Michael Vice as a white male about 6 feet tall and weighing around 180 pounds. Celeste Naquin Vice was described as a white female about 5 feet, 1 inch tall and around 140 pounds in weight.
