Vicksburg feasts on Ole Brook

VICKSBURG – The Brookhaven Lady Panthers suffered a disappointing 62-31 loss in their season opener against the Vicksburg Lady Gators Thursday night in basketball action.
In the boys’ game, the Gators held off Brookhaven to claim a 61-52 victory.
Vicksburg 62, Brookhaven 31
Vicksburg came out strong and hammered the Lady Panthers to take a comfortable 24-9 lead into halftime and continued to roll in the second half.
Sophomore forward Karry Callahan poured in a game-high 18 points to lead the Lady Gators. Keiyana Gaskin contributed 16 points.
The Lady Panthers (0-1) was led in scoring by junior forward Jessica Wilson with a team-high 12 points and seven rebounds. Yasmine Hill provided six points. Kynitria Hill collected five rebounds.

De’Angelo Richardson was the offensive spark for Vicksburg with a game-high 20 points. De’Vonta Brisco fueled the flames with 18 points.
