Co-Lin players receive post-season honors

JACKSON – Eleven Copiah-Lincoln Community College football players received postseason recognition from the Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges and the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Center Xavier Dampeer, defensive lineman Demond Tucker, linebacker Jordan Harris, and wide receiver Casey Gladney were named NJCAA All-Region 23 and MACJC First Team All-State. Joining them on the MACJC First Team are tight end Tyson McDonald, quarterback Daniel Fitzwater, defensive lineman Jonathan Calvin, and defensive back Kalen Jackson.
Named to the MACJC Second Team All-State were offensive lineman David Adams and defensive back Greg Sims.
Dampeer, a 6-2, 300 lb. sophomore from Mendenhall, was also named the MACJC Most Valuable Offensive Lineman. He moved from the defensive side of the ball to center and started in all nine games for the Wolfpack this season. Dampeer is verbally committed to Auburn University.
Tucker, a 6-1, 285 lb. freshman from Hazlehurst, was also named MACJC Most Valuable Player Defensive Line. He leads the NJCAA and the MACJC in sacks with 13. Tucker made 33 tackles for the season.
Harris, a 6-0, 235 lb. sophomore from Clarksdale, led the NJCAA and the MACJC in total tackles with 124. Harris averaged 13.8 tackles per game.
Gladney, a 6-0, 185 lb. sophomore from Columbia, S.C., was also named MACJC Most Valuable Offensive Back. He averaged 108.6 receiving yards per game, second in the NJCAA and first in the MACJC. Gladney finished the season with 977 yards receiving and eight touchdowns. He is verbally committed to the University of Cincinnati.
McDonald, a 6-3, 235 lb. sophomore from Magee, caught eight passes on the season, two of those going for touchdowns. McDonald started all nine games for the Wolfpack this season.
Fitzwater, a 6-6, 230 lb. freshman from Shreveport, La., had one of the finest seasons for a Co-Lin quarterback in the history of the program. Fitzwater finished seventh in the NJCAA with 186 completions, sixth in the NJCAA with 2,684 passing yards, and ninth in the NJCAA with 19 touchdowns on the season.
Calvin, a 6-3, 265 lb. freshman from Jackson, finished with 29 total tackles and 5.5 sacks for the season.
Jackson, 6-1, 205 lb. sophomore from Magee, finished the season with 27 total tackles and was tied for the team lead with two interceptions.
Adams, a 6-4, 275 lb. sophomore from Rolling Fork, started all nine games at the right guard position on the offensive line. Adams missed nearly his entire freshman season after suffering a serious leg injury. He is verbally committed to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
Sims, a 5-10, 175 lb. sophomore from Brookhaven, finished with 21 tackles and tied for the team lead with two interceptions.
