Enterprise sweeps St. Aloysius

The Enterprise girls and boys varsity basketball teams both secured wins at home Tuesday night against the visiting St. Aloysius Flashes. The Lady Jackets improved to 1-1 on the season while the Jackets remain unbeaten at 2-0.

Enterprise returns to action Thursday night as they travel to Sandhill to meet the Pisgah Dragons. Junior high action will tip off at 4 p.m. for two games followed by two varsity games starting at 6p.m.

St. Aloysius proved tough through two and a half quarters before Enterprise began to have its way with the Lady Flashes and pull away for a 67-49 victory.

Alissa Barlow led the Lady Jackets with a game high 19 points. Kristin Jergins added 13 points and Megan Rippy followed suit with 11 points. Hannah Kirtfield pulled down 13 rebounds to lead the Lady Jackets in that department.

Grace Upshaw led St. Aloysius with 16 points.

A back-and-forth offensive battle in the first half proved to be entertaining as St. Aloysius took a 38-32 lead at halftime.

After some halftime adjustments, Enterprise had an explosive second half to claim a 70-57 win over the Purple Flashes.

“We’ve got to do a better job to begin games,” said Enterprise coach John Knight. “We cannot continue to dig ourselves a hole to start the game if we want to be successful as the season goes on.”

John Gray poured in 31 points, five steals, and four rebounds to lead Enterprise. Forrest Scott added a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Riley Falvey chipped in eight points for the home team.

Ben Welp scored 20 points to lead St. Aloysius. Charles Pendleton added 15 points for the visitors from Vicksburg.
