Memorial services for Coach M.K. Turk, of Hattiesburg, are 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Parkway Heights United Methodist Church with a private burial.
Visitation is Monday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Parkway Heights United Methodist Church.
Mr. Turk, 71, died Dec. 6, 2013, at Forrest General Hospital.
He coached for 31 years. He served as head basketball coach at the University of Southern Mississippi for 20 years. One of his greatest pleasures was mentoring his student athletes. He was a member of Parkway Heights United Methodist Church. He considered his greatest legacy to be his girls and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Katrina Turk, of Hattiesburg; daughters, Michelle Turk Hession and Malisha Turk Siders (Drew), both of Hattiesburg; three grandchildren, Turk Hession, Addie Siders and Caroline Siders, two sisters, Naomi Rushton, of Interlake, N.J., and Mildred Ann Simons, of Gainesbille, Ga.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the University of Southern Mississippi Athletic Foundation, M.K. Turk Basketball Scholarship Endowment or Parkway United Methodist Church.
