Enterprise girls, Mize boys triumph

The Enterprise girls were victorious Tuesday night on the hardwood defeating the visiting Mize Lady Bulldogs 51-9.

In varsity boys’ action, Mize blitzed the Enterprise Yellow Jackets by a final of 56-38.

Enterprise returns to action Friday night as they travel to Hattiesburg to meet the Sacred Heart Crusaders. Junior high games tip off at 4 p.m. followed by a pair of varsity games starting at 6 p.m..

Enterprise 51, Mize 9

Pressure defense and easy baskets set the tone early for Coach Nations’ Lady Jackets as they shutout Mize 15-0 after one quarter of action.

Enterprise (6-7), continued to overpower the Lady Bulldogs and gained a 35-2 advantage at halftime.

“I’m proud for the girls and happy that everyone got some playing time,” said Enterprise head coach Jill Nations.

Freshmen Alissa Barlow and Courtney Greer were the offensive leaders for the Lady Jackets with 10 points apiece.

Destiny Blackwell led Mize in scoring with five points.

Mize 56, Enterprise 38 

Timely shooting, offensive rebounding and a chaotic style of defense propelled the Mize Bulldogs to a 56-38 victory over Enterprise Tuesday night.

The Jackets and Bulldogs battled tightly in the first half as Mize held a 28-25 lead at halftime.

The second half belonged to Mize as they outscored the Jackets 28-13 to seal the win.

“We didn’t play with any heart tonight,” said Enterprise coach John Knight. “We were awful.”

Enterprise (7-6) was led by Forrest Scott’s 11 points and eight rebounds. Dwayne Pendleton added 10 points for the Jackets.

Robert Barnes’ game-high 12 points paced Mize. Braedon Blackwell and Wardalius Ducksworth provided 11 points apiece.

In JV boys’ action,  Mize squeaked by Enterprise 39-34. Wardalius Ducksworth directed the Bulldog attack with 20 points.

Patrick Scott fired in 15 points to lead Enterprise. Zach Hodges added five points for the Yellow Jackets.
