Funeral services for Lester “Sonny” Smith of Brandon are 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with burial in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl. The Rev. Norman Robinson Jr. will officiate the service, along with the Rev. Steve Wilson.

Visitation is Sunday from 4 until 7 p.m. at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon.

Mr. Smith, 69, died Dec. 26, 2013, at University of Mississippi Medical Center. He was born in Brookhaven on Jan. 19, 1944, to Nellie S. Smith and Fred L. Smith, who was killed in action in World War II in Patton’s Army.

He was a member of Crossgates Baptist Church. He loved his family and put his wife, kids and grandchildren first in life. Sonny was a huge Ole Miss fan.

Survivors include his wife, Janis C. Smith; daughter, Toscha M. Robinson and husband, Norman, of Meridian; son, Trent L. Smith and wife, Angela Denise, of Brandon; sister, Linda Lee Smith, of Brookhaven; five grandchildren, Case Miles, Zach Miles, Kannon Smith, Gabe Miles and Kylee Smith; one great-grandson, Tanner Hayes Miles; and a nephew, Todd Graham Smith, of Pass Christian.
