A Monticello man is in stable condition today after being shot several times at a residence just outside the Monticello city limits, said Lawrence County Sheriff Joel Thames.
David Howell, 50, was shot three times at approximately 2:15 p.m. Sunday. Howell was later airlifted to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
On Monday Thames said Howell remains in stable condition.
“It appears that he will be all right,” Thames said.
An argument between the two men is believed to be what led to the shooting. No arrests have been made at this time, but law enforcement officials have a suspect in mind, Thames said.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
