Hornets, Lady Jackets capture tourney crowns

The Loyd Star Hornets and the Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets ended their magical season as the junior high tournament champions Monday night in Loyd Star Gymnasium.
In the girls’ game, the Lady Jackets stung the West Lincoln Lady Bears 27-7.
In boys’ action, the Hornets knocked the West Lincoln Bears 28-18.
In the consolation games, the Bogue Chitto Lady Cats and the Enterprise Jackets were victorious.
The Lady Cats defeated the Loyd Star Lady Hornets 23-12 in girls’ action and the Jackets edged the Bogue Chitto Bobcats 40-39.
Bogue Chitto 23, Loyd Star 12
Baileigh Jackson and Chyna Collins was the offensive leaders for the Lady Cats with seven points apiece.
Jessica Smith was the top scorer for the Lady Hornets with four points. Johnna Norman helped with three points.
Enterprise 40, Bogue Chitto 39
Jontavious Smith pumped in 14 points to lead the Jackets. Jadarren Allen provided 13 points.
Malik Richardson paced the Bobcats with 10 points. Fred Dillon added seven points.
Enterprise 27, West Lincoln 7
The Lady Jackets (12-1) captured the girls’ crown as Monisha Pendleton lead the charge with eight points. Karlee Burgess contributed seven points and Eden Wards helped with five points.
Haley Moak directed the Lady Bears’ offense with three points. Skylar Hall had two points.
Loyd Star 28, West Lincoln 18
The Hornets finished the season with an 11-1 record and captured their third straight conference crown as Dane Smith and Cade Hodges provided the offensive spark with eight points apiece. Patrick Price fueled the flames with seven points. Zabien Price netted five points.
Dominique Chism paced the Bears with seven points. Landon Lynch and Ladarius Jones chipped in with four points apiece.
