Co-Lin’s Banks named MACJC Player of the Week

Copiah-Lincoln freshman guard Claresa Banks has been named MACJC Player of the Week for all games played Jan. 6-12.
For the week Banks averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds per game in leading the Lady Wolves to a 2-0 record. The Jackson native scored 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in Co-Lin’s 63-51 victory over Baton Rouge Community College. Banks, a product of Forest Hill High School, grabbed a season high six offensive rebounds as the Lady Wolves avenged a loss to Baton Rouge in early Nov. She also dished out three assists, made three steals, and blocked two shots versus Baton Rouge
Banks, averaging a team leading 16.3 points per game, ended the week with another 19 point outing, this one in a 58-45 Co-Lin victory at Itawamba. Banks led the team with 12 rebounds while dishing out three assists and making three steals.
The 5-foot-9 guard leads the team in minutes played by averaging 30 minutes a game and has scored in double digits in every game of her young Co-Lin career.
Banks, the Lady Wolves, and the Co-Lin men are all back in action on Thursday, Jan. 16, as they travel to take on the Meridian Eagles. The women tip off at 5:30 with the men’s game to follow. Listen live at colinathletics.com.
