Funeral services for Grace Ratcliff Williams of Brookhaven are 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel, 894 Natchez Drive, Brookhaven, with burial at Easthaven Cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, from 5 until 9 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home.

Mrs. Williams, 90, died Jan. 14, 2014, at King’s Daughters Hospital in Brookhaven. She was born on June 25, 1923, in McComb to Robert L. Van Norman and Laura Mae Miles Van Norman.

Following graduation from Jones High School, she completed a business course at Whitworth College. Grace furthered her education at Ole Miss School of Banking, where she graduated in 1971.

She started her banking career in 1942 with the Progressive Bank in Summit,, working in the bookkeeping department, note department and as a teller. After moving to Brookhaven she joined the Brookhaven Bank and Trust Co. in June 1956. In July 1969 she was promoted to assistant cashier and in 1970 became the manager of the downtown drive-in branch. She retired June 1, 1974, from her banking career. After her retirement, she became a homemaker and bookkeeper for her husband Fred Ratcliff, at Lott Furniture for more than 30 years.

Grace was a member of the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce. She is also a member of the South Mississippi Group of the National Association of Bank Women Inc.

She enjoyed landscaping her yard, which led to her being awarded Yard of the Month for several years. She was a member of the Garden Club, which allowed her to explore different flowers, including her favorite, the day lilies.

Mrs. Williams was a member of Easthaven Baptist Church of Brookhaven and she enjoyed quilting.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two husbands, Fred A. Ratcliff and George B. Williams; daughter, Melanie R. Smith; sisters, Nell Etheridge and Margaret Gatlin; brothers Lester Van Norman, James Van Norman, Charlie Van Norman and Jerry Van Norman.

She is survived by son, James F. Ratcliff and wife, Jan Elizabeth Ratcliff of Brookhaven; brothers, Billy Van Norman of Baton Rouge, La., and Kenneth L. Van Norman of Summit; grandchildren, Bobby Ratcliff, Sonya Ratcliff, Daniel Smith, Derrick Smith and Lauren Smith; and great-grandchildren, Christen Ratcliff, Tate Smith, Cameron Smith, Bradley Shilling, Alexis Phillips, Skylar Wease, Christopher Wease and Alyssa Wease.
