The Lady Cats and Lady Green Wave came out sluggish in the first half , but provided a tough defensive battle for their basketball fans as Cathedral managed to take control late and carry a 31-26 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Lady Cats (16-4, 6-2) came out rejuvenated and managed to overpower Cathedral with a 36-22 advantage to secure the win.

“We came out very sloppy, which was expected due to three days off,” said BC coach Christi Terrell. “We really can improve in every area of the game. I was pleased to get the win, but it was nothing short of ugly! Hopefully, we can shake off the rust and prepare for the district games next week.”

McKenzie Milligan paced the Lady Green Wave with a team-high 16 points. McKenzie Watts chipped in with 10 points.

The boys’ contest was similar to the girls’ game in the opening half as both teams battled through their three days of rust due to the winter/ice storm earlier this week.

The Bobcats (7-15, 4-4) managed to take control in the first quarter, secured a 18-10 lead and outscored Cathedral 10-9 in the second quarter to claim a 28-19 lead at halftime.

In the second half, both teams came out strong and provided an exciting offensive show as the Green Wave and Bobcats lit up the scoreboard. BC won the scoring spree over Cathedral 39-34 to capture the win.

Senior forward Dennis Rogers pumped in a game-high 24 points, 8 assists and 3 blocked shots to lead the Bobcats. Damien Terrell helped to lead the charge with a double-double performance of 19 points and 13 rebounds.

“This was a great win for us,” said BC coach Mark Pitts. “The guys came out and fought hard until the very end. Overall, I was pleased with their effort. We are starting to come together and play as a team.”

The Green Wave had two players to score in double figures as Jardarius Anderson led the way with 16 points. James Coley provided 12 points.
