Amite County clobbers Enterprise

LIBERTY – The Enterprise Yellow Jackets fell on hard times Tuesday night in Liberty as they dropped a pair of regional contests with the Amite County Trojans.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Trojans were victorious on their home floor with a 59-19 final score.

In boys’ action, Amite County flipped the numbers in defeating the Jackets 73-37.

Enterprise returns to action Friday night with another key region battle against the Loyd Star Hornets. JV girls will tip off the action starting at 4 p.m.

Amite County 59, Enterprise 19 

Amite County came out strong in the opening quarter as the Lady Jackets struggled to find the bottom of the net as they fell behind 13-2 in the early goings.

At the four-minute mark of the second quarter, Enterprise (10-15, 1-7) made their first field goal but trailed 29-8 going into the halftime break.

The Lady Trojans kept the foot on the gas pedal in the second half as they outscored the Lady Jackets 30-11 to secure the win.

Destiny Williams led Amite County in scoring with 12 points.

Markie Case’s five points paced Enterprise.

Amite County 73, Enterprise 37 

A balanced scoring attack from Amite County helped the Trojans maintain second place in the district as they routed Enterprise 73-37.

Four Trojan players finished the game scoring in double figures.

Amite County jumped out to an early 21-6 lead after a quarter of action. Enterprise (8-17, 0-8) had no answer as they struggled to make baskets and fell behind 37-12 at halftime.

Enterprise shot an ice-cold 3-29 from three-point range.

Nonetheless, Amite County showed no mercy as they continued to play their starters to the bitter end as the final score matched their largest lead of the ballgame.

John Gray pumped in 21 points to lead the Jackets.
