Funeral services for James Gerald Dunn of Brookhaven are 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service.
Mr. Dunn, 86, died Feb. 4, 2014, at his residence. He was born on April 17, 1927, to Charles Everett Dunn and Lorena Wallace Dunn.
He was employed as a manager for 35 years in the oilfield industry and was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.
He was a World War II veteran serving aboard the USS Hornet. He was a member of four Masonic lodges, Robert Posey-Bude No. 566, Brookhaven No. 241 and Asylum No. 63 Woodville and was past master of both Bude and Brookhaven lodges.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, C.E. Dunn Jr. and Wallace Dunn; and sister, Lottie Mae Freeman.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Avent Dunn; son, Charles William Dunn and wife Dimple; daughter, Jerry L. Floyd and husband Allen; brother, John L. Dunn and wife Pat; grandchildren, Jana J. Johns and Allison A. Winstead; great-grandchildren, Joshua Johns, Justin Johns, Elyzabeth Johns, and Reagan Ishee; and a host of nieces and nephews.
