Wolfpack finish third in MGCCC tournament

GULFPORT – The Copiah-Lincoln Wolfpack finished in third place after the final round of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Invitational being held at Great Southern Golf Club in Gulfport. The Wolfpack shot a final round of 308 for a two-day total of 610. Meridian won the tournament with a 588 followed by Mississippi Gulf Coast with a 595.
Individually, freshman Ryan Desormeaux turned in the best finish tying for second place with a two-day total of 144 (74-70). Sophomore Austin Schillaci finished tied for fifth at 148 (74-74). Both players were named to the All-Tournament team.
Other Wolfpack scores include Will Lee 159 (79-80), Gregory Causey 159 (75-84), Tyler Jelks 165 (81-84), and Connor Barnes 170 (81-89). Jelks competed as an individual.
Meridian’s Natan Kirkland of Meridian took medalist honors with a 141 (70-71). Joining Desomeaux, Schillaci, and Kirkland on the All-Tournament team were Ty Medling and Connor Cavin, both of Meridian and Hayes Weathersby of Gulf Coast.
Rounding out the team scores were Northwest 624, East Mississippi 631, Mississippi Gulf Coast (B) 646, Jones 652, Hinds 655, and Itawamba 674. Northeast MS withdrew after day one due to weather conditions in the northern part of the state.
Co-Lin returns to action on Feb. 22-23 in the Hinds Invitational at Eagle Ridge Country Club.
