Patricia ‘Pat’ Drury Fore

Patricia “Pat” Drury Fore, 77, of Albany, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

Visitation for Ms. Fore will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors in Albany, Ga., with services there at 2 p.m. Farther Jay Weldon will officiate. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Ms. Fore was born to Albert Drury and Jimmie Drury on Aug. 14, 1936, in Monticello, and grew up in Brookhaven.

She attended the University of Mississippi and was an honors graduate of Darton College, where she received the Wall Street Journal Award for the Most Outstanding Student.

She worked for the City of Albany for many years and retired in 2000 as the Director of Central Services. She served as presidents of the Albany Purchasing Agents Association and the Georgia Purchasing Agents Association and was the first person in the state of Georgia to attain the designation of Certified Public Purchasing Official from the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing. Her civic contributions included terms as chairman of the Better Business Bureau Board, treasurer of Women in Network, and as an alumnus of Leadership Albany.

She also served her community in other ways, including terms on the boards of Liberty House, the American Cancer Society and the Dougherty County Kiwanis Club. Following her retirement, she returned to her love of drawing and painting and was an award-winning member of the Albany Artists Guild of Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, M. Troy Fore; her son, Dru Freeman; her daughter, Gwendolyn Freeman Drury; and her son-in-law, John Meadors.

Survivors include her son, Troy Fore of Albany; her stepson, Jamie (Renae) Fore of Gloucester, Va.; her stepdaughter, Lisa Fore (Scott) Sheffield of Brevard, N.C.; her cousin, Charles (Jane) Calhoun of Vicksburg; and four grandchildren, Sarahfina Fore, Geordie Fore, Jared Fore and Emily Sheffield.
