Tripp McCarty leaves BA for Pillow Academy

Brookhaven Academy head football coach Tripp McCarty has announced that he has accepted a new head coaching position at Pillow Academy. He met with his players to break the news that he was leaving Tuesday morning.

“This was a very tough decision to make, but I could not pass up the opportunity,” said McCarty. “Brookhaven is a great place to live, and I have made many new friends here.

“Brookhaven Academy is a great place to teach,” continued McCarty. “The kids and administration have been excellent to work with. I believe that whole-heartedly, and I will miss everyone. Whoever BA’s decides to appoint as the new coach will have a great family atmosphere to work with and community support.”

McCarty, 36, just completed his third season at BA. As coach for the Cougars, he has compiled a 25-14 record, which includes a Class AA state championship title and two district titles.

Coach Tripp McCarty is very well known as an offensive-minded genius throughout the state, He is a certified instructor for quarterbacks and receivers with the National Football Academy. He also conducts skill camps from coast to coast.

A Camden native, McCarty is a 1995 Canton Academy graduate. He played quarterback and receiver at Mississippi College and later worked for MC as a graduate assistant. He also worked as an assistant at Canton Academy.
