Funeral services for Stanley Ford Matthews of Amite are 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Spring Hill Baptist Church with burial in Spring Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Londia Weatherspoon will be officiating. Marshall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Sunday, March 2, 2014, from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.

Mr. Matthews, 55, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at University Medical Center, Jackson. He was born on Feb. 1, 1959, to Vernon and Hattie Mae Chapman Matthews.

His activities included the Special Olympics.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Mary B. Brown.

Survivors are his six brothers, Edwin Matthews, Alphonse Matthews both of Gloster, Samuel Matthews, Melvin Matthews, and James Matthews, all of Chicago, Ill., and Vernon Matthews Jr. of Gonzales, La.; four sisters, Emma L. Dunn of Mobile, Ala., Ruthie M. Burgess of Chicago, Ill., Minester Veals and Wilma D. Williams, both of Gloster; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
