Lady Wolves battle Jones County in NJCAA Region 23 Tournament

WESSON – The Co-Lin Lady Wolves will take on the MACJC State Champion Jones County Lady Bobcats on Wednesday at noon, in the opening round of the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament at A.E. Wood Coliseum on the campus of Mississippi College. The winner of the region tournament qualifies for the NJCAA National Tournament, held in Salina, Kansas on March 17-22. Due to a change in format, the runner-up in the Region 23 tournament will also qualify for the national tournament.

The Lady Bobcats (19-7) are fresh off winning the state title defeating Southwest 75-73 in the championship game on Thursday night in Fulton. They swept the Lady Wolves (16-7) both times they have met this season. On Dec. 9, Jones took a 69-64 win in Wesson and 70-67 in Ellisville on Feb. 3.

Other women’s match-ups on Wednesday include Baton Rouge (21-6) and Meridian (18-6) at 2 p.m., Southwest (19-7) and East Mississippi (16-8) at 6 p.m. and LSU-Eunice (26-3) and Pearl River (17-6) at 8 p.m.

The men take the court on Thursday for four men’s games. The semifinals will be played on Friday and the championship games on Saturday.
