DAILY LEADER / JUSTIN VICORY / Artist and teacher Ron Thomson demonstrates some of the finer details of painting on tar paper for local artists at the Art Barn last week. Tar paper is a heavy duty construction paper that is conventionally used in roofing. "For art projects, it's cheaper than other canvas materials," Thomson noted. Thomson, who spent several days with the local artists last week, is from Fairhope, Ala., where his work can be found in a number of area art galleries. More information about Thomson and his art work can be found at www.ronthomson.net.
