County Administrator David Fields announced today that a bridge on Old Highway 51 just north of the Lincoln County Airport has been closed to trucking traffic.

“It’s the bridge in the first hollow past the airport,” he said. “We’ve already contacted most of the commercial lines that come through there, such as Walmart, McClain and local loggers,” Fields said. “We want to make the public aware that this bridge has been deemed unsafe for trucks over 16,000 pounds.”

Fields said that school buses will be safe to cross the bridge but warns that for any other commercial sized trucks it is unsafe.

There are no signs posted on the bridge, said Fields. The signs are expected to be delivered within the next few days.
