Diamond Wolves drop two

BATON ROUGE – The Co-Lin Wolfpack dropped a pair of games, an 11-3 contest to Baton Rouge Community College and 13-2 to St. Louis (MO) Community College on Saturday afternoon. The Wolfpack answered in the top of the second inning with two runs. Dominic Savage singled and advanced to second on a balk. Wesley Watts singled and stole second. Savage scored on an error. Watts advanced to third on Konner Burke’s ground out and scored on Matthew Evans sacrifice fly.

Baton Rouge plated six runs in the bottom of the second aided by a Wolfpack error, two walks, and a wild pitch. The Bears added another run in the bottom of the third inning. Stephen Bright and Jose Dupuy drew walks. Cade Milazzo reached on an error to load the bases with no outs. Darren Bueche’s sacrifice fly scored Bright.

One run in the top of the fifth helped the Wolfpack close their deficit to 8-3. Tyler Parvin reached and advanced to second on a Baton Rouge error. Philip Lott singled and Parvin scored on an error.

The Bears added a run in the bottom of the fifth on Bright’s solo home run to left field and two more in the sixth to take the 11-3 lead.

Getting the win for Baton Rouge was Mason Liles. He allowed three runs, struck out four, walked one and scattered seven hits over six innings. Also seeing action for the Bears, Mason Liles, Andre Liotta, and Jacob Salzan.

Newt Brown took the loss for the Wolfpack allowing nine runs in five innings, walking five and striking out two. Blake Talbot relieved Brown pitching the final three innings. He allowed two earned runs on five hits, struck out two and walked two.

Bright was 3-for-3 including a home run and 2 RBIs for Baton Rouge. Benjamin McGrew doubled and singled. Cameron Burns had a pair of singles. Free doubled (2 RBIs). Adding support with a single apiece were Bueche (3 RBIs), Blake Meisner, Austin Vicknair (2 RBIs), Dupuy (1 RBI).

For Co-Lin at the plate, Philip Lott had three singles. Wesley Watts went 2-4 with a double and a single. Ryan Young doubled. Choc Hubbard and Dominic Savage singled.

St. Louis 13, Co-Lin 2 

The Archers pounded out 15 hits against Co-Lin pitching.

St. Louis scored three runs in the first inning on a two-run error and a groundout by Brandon Gutzler. They brought home two runs in the second inning, and matched that run total in the third. In the second, the Archers scored on an RBI single by Josh Stephens.

After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the fifth, the Wolfpack faced a 13-2 deficit. An RBI single by Tanner Parvin and an RBI double by shortstop Ryan Young the inning.

Matthew Hassenbeck got the win for the Archers. He allowed two runs over five innings, struck out five, walked none and gave up five hits.

Colby Whitfield was charged with the loss. He allowed seven runs in three innings, walked none and struck out three. Also pitching for the Wolfpack were Alex Smith (1 hit, 1 inning) and Casey Hurley (5 earned runs, 1 walk, six hits, 1 inning).

Adam Ricks, Stephens and Colin McDonough combined for eight hits and five RBIs for St. Louis.

Dominic Savage tripled and singled for Co-Lin. Young doubled for 1 RBI. Adding a single apiece were Konner Burke and Parvin.
