Panthers claim one win in a three-game weekend

The Brookhaven Panthers captured one win in a game series between Friday and Saturday night in baseball action.
The Panthers knocked off Laurel 18-11 Friday afternoon, before falling to the Seminary Bulldogs in the nightcap 6-3 at Seminary.
In Saturday’s action, the Sumrall Bobcats looks to add another state championship to the trophy case as they blanked the Panthers 10-0.
Brookhaven (3-2) will be in action this week at Lawrence County’s Spring Break Invitational. Ole Brook will see action Thursday as they take on South Pike at 12:15 p.m.
Brookhaven 18, Laurel 11
Scotty Bateman picked up his second win of the season for Brookhaven on the mound with four strikeouts and one walk. Penn Wilson (3K, 1BB) saw action in relief.
Nigel Moffett pitched the loss for Laurel.
Reed Jones was the offensive leader at the plate for Brookhaven with a double and a single. Blaine Moak had a double. Hitting safely were Landon McCullough, Myles Tipton, Michael Lambert and Bateman.
Milton Smith was the top hitter for Laurel with three singles. Krawford Boys ripped two singles. Taylor Martin had a double. DeDe Pruitt, John Brelan, Kolby Smith, J.D. Nix and Moffitt hit a single each.
Seminary 6, Brookhaven 3
Cody Owens pitched the win for the Bulldogs with eight strikeouts and one walk.
Reed absorbed the setback for Ole Brook with nine strikeouts and no walks.
Landon McCullough and Myles Tipton powered the Panthers at the plate with a pair of singles apiece.
Anthony Clapp and Dustin Trussel provided the offensive power for Seminary with a home run each. Dalton Cummins and Cody Quick contributed two singles apiece. Owens singled.
Sumrall 10, Brookhaven 0
Drake Nightgate pitched the win for the Bobcats with three strikeouts and one walk.
Landon McCullough suffered the setback on the mound for the Panthers with two strikeouts and two walks. Myles Tipton (1K, 2BB) and Nick Kesler (1K, 1BB) saw some action in relief.
Reed Jones recorded the only hit for Ole Brook with a single.
Nick Clark, Alex Knight and Nightgate paced Sumrall’s offense with a double and single apiece. Logan McGrew ripped a double, and Trace Jordan had a single.
