North Pike roars past Bogue Chitto

SUMMIT – The North Pike Lady Jaguars capture a 4-2 win over the Bogue Chitto Lady Cats Thursday night in softball action.

“This was a good game for both teams,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “Both hit the ball well and played really well defensively. We just did not come up with the timely hits when we needed them.”

The Lady Cats (4-2) return home to host the Salem Lady Wildcats Monday. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.

The Lady Jags, coach by Sonya Wallace, will also be in action Monday as they prepare to host their Region 6-4A rival, the Columbia Lady Wildcats. The junior varsity will start their contest at 5 p.m., followed by varsity action at 6:30 p.m.

North Pike 4, Bogue Chitto 2 

The Lady Jaguars and Lady Cats renewed their tough rivalry as both teams battled in a back-and-forth contest.

North Pike quickly jump out to an early lead in the first inning as they capture a 2-0 lead over Bogue Chitto.

The Lady Jags would add two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to increased their lead to 4-0.

Bogue Chitto would battle back in the fifth and sixth inning to break North Pike’s bid for an shut out by scoring one run in each inning, but failed to come closer as the Lady Jags held on for the win.

Lauren Wells was the winning pitcher for the Lady Jags with three strikeouts and one walk.

Christian Black suffered the setback for the Lady Cats with one strikeout and one walk.

Madison Bigner powered North Pike’s offense with a double and a single. Sarah Brock ripped a triple. Hitting safely were McKenzie Brock, Jana McEwen, Madison Bates and Danaraye Parks.

Mattie Avants and Alana Nettles paced the Lady Cats at the plate with two singles apiece. Christian Black provided a double. Terrah Nelson and Mallory Allen hit safely.

In junior varsity action,  North Pike cruised past Bogue Chitto 8-2.

Reagan Kirkland pitched for Bogue Chitto collecting one strikeout and five walks.

Baileigh Jackson and Brooke Myers direct Bogue Chitto’s offense with a single each.
