Lady Cobras crush Salem

WESSON – The 1A Salem Lady Wildcats traveled from Walthall County to play the Wesson Lady Cobras Tuesday night.
The Lady Cobras dominated the night and defeated the Lady Wildcats in a 14-1 win.
“We hit the ball well throughout the whole line up and played good defense,” said Wesson coach Jackie Johnson after the win.
The Wesson defense was on fire and only allowed Salem to make 1 run out of 7 hits. Lady Cobras’ pitcher, Carrie McSweyn, had one strikeout and no walks.
Sarah Robinson was a top offensive player with two singles that averaged 4 RBIs. Bailey Middleton also had two singles with 3 RBIs. Wesson also got hits from the following: Harmoni Ashley with a single and a double (RBI-2) and Amber Brinson with 2 singles (RBI-1). Kayla Britt (RBI-1) and Sabria Green both hit doubles and Carrie McSweyn (RBI-2), Abby Meredith (RBI-1), and Brooke Jones hit singles.
Lady Wildcat’s pitcher, Rachel Bond, pitched the first 2 innings averaging one strikeout and one walk, but was replaced during the second inning when the Lady Cobras racked up six points. Replacement pitcher, Brittney Bergeron, had two strikeouts and six walks.
Salem’s Darrien Dykes had 2 singles and Zoie Bridges had the single that put her on base to make the only run of the night for the Lady Wildcats.
