RAYMOND – Two close games in Raymond between Copiah-Lincoln and Hinds both went in favor of the Eagles as the Wolves went down 3-2 in game one and 7-6 in game two in nine innings.

Hinds 3, Co-Lin 2 

Co-Lin (7-17, 3-5) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third on a solo home run by Colby Whitfield. The Wolves got their only other run in the fifth when Philip Lott hit an RBI double that scored Konner Burke.

Whitfield went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fifth inning.

Michael Jolly recorded the win for Hinds (15-10, 7-1). He tossed 1 1/3 innings of shutout ball. He struck out three, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Newt Brown took the loss for Co-Lin after pitching 5 2/3 innings, walking two, striking out four and allowing three runs.

Hinds, trailing 2-0, went up for good in the sixth, scoring three runs on two singles.

Hinds 7, Co-Lin 6 

Trailing 6-5 in the top of the sixth, Co-Lin got an RBI double by Dominic Savage to score Wesley Watts and tied the game up. The teams battled back and forth until errors allowed Hinds to put a runner on in the bottom of the ninth. The Wolves then committed two more errors on the next play, allowing the runner to score and Hinds to escape with the 7-6 win.

Errors were the big story for Co-Lin as the Wolves committed six in game two after having none in game one.

Choc Hubbard led the Wolves at the plate, going 2-3 with a double, a homerun and two RBIs. Adrian Brown went 2-4 with two singles and a run scored. Logan Smith and Mitch Little hit a single apiece.

Casey Hurley took the loss for Co-Lin after giving up one run in 4.1 innings of work. Alex Smith pitched 1.2 innings and gave up two unearned runs on three hits. Blake Talbot pitched two innings and gave up four runs on five hits.
