Enterprise stings Trojans, Bobcats

The Enterprise Yellow Jackets are currently riding a three-game winning streak after thumping Amite County 20-2 Friday night in Region 7-2A baseball action.

In Saturday action, the Jackets managed to knock off their Lincoln County archrivals, the Bogue Chitto Bobcats, 8-6 in a thrilling baseball contest.

The Jackets (4-5, 2-0) will return to action Tuesday as they prepare to host Bassfield in a Region 7-2A battle of Yellowjackets. Junior varsity action starts at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

The Bobcats (4-7) will also be in action Tuesday as they have their district match in Region 7-1A action. BC will host the St. Aloysius Flashes starting at 5 p.m. for the junior varsity game, followed by a varsity contest at 7 p.m.

Enterprise 20, Amite County 2

The Jackets managed to overcome a sluggish start to overwhelm the Trojans with a seven run explosion in the bottom of the second inning and continued to pound Amite County in the third inning with a nine run offensive onslaught.

Enterprise increased the lead by four more runs in the fourth inning to secure the win in five innings of work.

“I thought we played really well,” said Enterprise coach Cass Brister. “It feels good to start our district race off 2-0. We still have to get better in each game ahead of us as it will get tougher. Overall, I am thrilled to get the win. We had several young guys step up and play well tonight.”

Austin Fuller was the winning pitcher for the Jackets with five strikeouts and one walk. Seventh grader Landon Gartman (9K, 1BB) also saw some time on the mound for Enterprise.

Fuller powered the Jackets at the plate with an inside the park home run. Josh Hardin continued to fuel the flames with three singles. Layne Brown and Gartman ripped a pair of singles. Seventh grader Hunter Richardson had a triple. Zach Hodges and Jeffrey Daniels hit a double apiece. Jackson Cole singled.

In junior action,  Enterprise drilled Amite County 16-2. Tanner Waldrop pitched the win for the Jackets.

Enterprise 8, Bogue Chitto 6 

Bogue Chitto and Enterprise baseball provided a thrilling contest for their fans as both teams fought hard in a seesaw game.

Jeffrey Daniels collects the win on the mound for the Jackets with two strikeouts and two walks. Jackson Cole came in to pitch the save in relief.

Cameron Price suffered the setback on the mound for the Bobcats.

Hunter Richardson and Cole paced Enterprise’s offense with a double and a single apiece. Daniels ripped a triple.

Landon Roberts was the top hitter for the Bobcats with a triple. Tucker Lambert and Bo Smithers contributed a double each. Steven Ginn hit safely.
