West Lincoln’s Duane Marshall on the MAC All-Star South Team

Williams Athletics & Assembly Center on the campus of Jackson State. The boys All-Star game starts at 7:30 p.m.

DAILY LEADER / JONATHON ALFORD / ALL-STAR ACTION – West Lincoln junior guard Duane Marshall will show off his skills as he represents the Bears in the MAC/MS All-Star game tonight at the Lee E. Williams Athletics & Assembly Center on the campus of Jackson State. The boys All-Star game starts at 7:30 p.m.

Junior guard Duane Marshall will be representing the West Lincoln Bears in the boys’ MAC/MS Sports Medicine All-Star Classic in Jackson at the Lee E. Williams Athletics & Assembly Center on the campus of Jackson State.

The boys’ game will start approximately at 7:30 p.m., after the girls’ All-Star game at 6 p.m. today.

In Marshall’s junior year for the Bears, he averaged 20.2 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals per game. West Lincoln finished their 2013-14 season with a 24-6 record and were undefeated (10-0) in their first year as Region 7-2A members.

Joining Marshall on the South squad are Jahshire Hardnett, Purvis; David Davis, Velma Jackson; David McFarland, Raymond; DeAngelo West, Provine; Jamal Peters, Omar Bayless, Laurel; Jerekius Davis, Provine; Moses Greenwood; Velma Jackson; Tristan Walley, Hattiesburg; and Bruce Stevens, Bay Springs.

A three-point shootout, free throw shooting and a slam-dunk contest will start the festivities prior to the All-Star Games.

In 2013, the South girls ended the North’s 2-game winning streak by beating the North 68-55 to cut into the North’s series lead, which stands at 27-22.

The South boys captured their fifth straight win in the series by a score of 112-82 to add to their series lead at 38-21. The North and South teams feature rising seniors.

The North girls will be coached by Janna Thompson of Horn Lake and Byron Sparks of New Site. The North boys will be guided by Anthony Davis of Shaw and Karshae Peterson of Broad Street. The South girls coaches are Michael Thornton of Forrest County AHS and Sam Smith of Stone while the South boys are guided by Steven Fortenberry of Dexter and Kim Windom of Port Gibson.
