Funeral services for Nicholas Victor Vesa were held on March 29, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Firs Baptist Church of Brookhaven with burial in Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Vesa, 69, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 8:28 a.m. at his residence in Madison, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 10, 1945 in Camaguey, Cuba to Dr. Antonio Gregorio Vesa and Gliceria Violante Alvarez.
Mr. Vesa attended Greenwich High School in Greenwich, Conn., and graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi having earned his Bachelor of Science. While at USM, Nick was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity and has surrounded himself with his brothers through his last days. He was a longtime member of the Worldwide Church of God and was active in serving with the youth. He had a love for God and God’s plan.
Mr. Vesa leaves behind a legacy of memories and stories. He was, indeed, a great man who will be loved and missed by his many friends, Brothers and family. A man strong throughout his life, and in the ends of his days, his strength was made even more perfect through his weakness.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors are his wife of 39 years, Janey Diane Vesa; two children, Angel Briana Vesa Vance and husband, Dr. Kevin Vance, and Anthony Mitchell Vesa and wife, Dr. Telciani Vesa; five grandchildren, Nicholas Rigby, Matthew Ruger, Lucas Cooper, Christopher Sharps, and Layla Nichole; brothers, Manuel G. Vesa of Woodland Hills, Calif., Tony Vesa of Long Beach, and Alex Vesa of Biloxi; nephews, Anthony Vesa and Hunter Vesa of Biloxi; stepmother, Maria Vesa of Biloxi; and mother-in-law, Betty Joe Kennedy of Brookhaven.
