Loyd Star exterminates Bassfield

The Loyd Star Lady Hornets are on fire after clobbering the Bassfield Lady Yellowjackets 15-0. Thursday night extended their winning streak to 9 games in softball action.

With the win, the Lady Hornets are 9-1 on the season and remain undefeated in region action at 3-0.

Loyd Star will return to action Tuesday as they travel across Lincoln County to take on the Enterprise Lady Jackets for another huge district test. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.

Loyd Star 15, Bassfield 0 

Ali Gartman dominated the pitching circle for the Lady Hornets with four strikeouts and one walk in three innings of action.

Daijionae Booth suffered the loss for the Lady Yellowjackets with no strikeouts and four walks.

Gartman powered Loyd Star’s offensive charge with a home run. Makenzie Smith and Kelsey McCullough contributed a double and a single each. Megan Norton and Abigail Thornton provided a pair of singles. Madison Jones ripped a double. Lexie Butler hit a single.

Malexus Loftin recorded the only hit for Bassfield with a single.
