Funeral services for Doyle Edwin Thames are 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello with burial in Pleasant Grove Methodist Church Cemetery. Brother Phillip Hemby will officiate. Music will be provided by Bealah Land and Heaven’s Point of View. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Saturday, April 5, 2014, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home.
The family said Jesus called our sweet daddy home on April 3, 2014, at Lawrence County Nursing Center. He was born on Jan. 10, 1931, to Ben and Delois Martin Thames.
He graduated from East Lincoln School. He was a 32 Degree mason, member of Topisaw Lodge No.326 and the Order of the Eastern Star at Topisaw. He retired from International Paper Co. in Natchez and Atlanta, Texas. He also worked as a security guard at St. Regis Paper Mill, Lawrence County for 12 years.
Although we will miss him dearly, we, the family, are so grateful to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for giving him eternal rest. We know that those who passed on before him are welcoming him in his new Heavenly home.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Ruthie Hewitt Thames; and wife Patricia Baldwin Thames.
Survivors are his three daughters, Dana Toney of Natchez, Peggy Tucker of Waterproof, La., and Jenny Ruth Thames of Ruth; his four sons, Charles Thames of Pace, Fla., Ron Thames of Ruth, Joseph Ben Thames of Brookhaven, and John Adams of McComb; grandchildren, Tre’Toney of Vidalia, La., Allison Toney of Natchez, Christina and Troy Thames of Ruth, Tyler Trout of Brookhaven, Zachary and Benjamin Thames of Pace, Fla., Amber, Jacob and Shawn Thames of Brookhaven, great-grandchildren, Tyson Trout, Cody, Christ and Sarah Toney; great great-grandchild, Skylar Toney; uncles, Tommy and Joe Thames; aunt, Georgie Thames; and sister, Yvonne Wooten.
Pallbearers will include his grandsons, Tre’Toney, Zachary and Benjamin Thames, Tyler Trout, Nolan Williamson, Lynn Boyte, Spencer Nutt, and Joel Thames.
