Bogue Chitto surfs Lady Green Wave

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats continue to remain undefeated in the Region 7-1A softball action after surfing the Lady Green Wave of Natchez Cathedral for a 13-3 victory Thursday night.
“The girls did a great job tonight,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “This win secured us the district championship. We did a good job putting pressure late in the game to claim the win.”
The Lady Cats (13-5, 5-0) will be in action today as they prepare to travel to Vicksburg to take on the St. Aloysius Lady Flashes for a district make up game. Game time is at 5 p.m. for a varsity game only.
Bogue Chitto 13, Cathedral 3
The Lady Cats overcame a slow start to claim a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning.
After a tough defensive battle in the third and fourth innings, Bogue Chitto managed to find their timing and increased their lead, pushing five across the plate to take a 8-1 lead.
In the top of the sixth inning, Cathedral tried to sparked a big rally but fell short scoring only two runs.
Bogue Chitto ended the contest in the bottom of the sixth inning on the 10-run mercy rule as they drained the Lady Green Wave with a five-run jolt.
Christian Black was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cats as she pitched a no hitter collecting 13 strikeouts and allowing only seven walks.
Elizabeth Smith suffered the loss for Cathedral with three strikeouts and six walks.
Terrah Nelson powered BC at the plate with a home run and a single. Alana Nettles continued the onslaught with three singles. Mallory Allen provided two singles. Hitting safely were Daley Roberts, Christian Black, and Zariah Matthews.
