The Wesson Cobra netters were triumphant Friday afternoon as they eliminated the Sumrall Bobcats 6-1 in the opening round of the Class 3A state playoffs at Co-Lin’s Tennis Courts.

The Cobras advance to the second round and will have to travel to Philadelphia to battle the Philadelphia Tornadoes, Thursday at 3 p.m.

James Valentine-Conner Landrum (S) 5-7, 6-2 (10-5).  Girls No. 1 Doubles:  Maya-Morgan Wesley (W) d. Lauren Calhoun-Hayley Lott (S) 4-6, 6-4 (10-5).  Boys No. 2 Doubles:  Landon Lewis-Andrew Hart d. Conner Gates-Sam Roland (S) 6-3, 6-3. Girls No. 2 Doubles:  Maddie Williamson-Madison Newsom (S) d. Laci Hamilton-Caitlyn Silvan 4-6, 6-7 (5-7).
