Lady Cats dominates Stone

WIGGINS – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats were victorious Thursday night as they knocked off the Stone Lady Tomcats 7-1 in a non-divisional softball contest.

“The girls played well,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “Stone has a very good team. We did a great job scoring run and our defense played well.”

The Lady Cats (18-5, 6-0) return home to host the McComb Lady Tigers Monday. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6 p.m.

Bogue Chitto 7, Stone 1 

The Lady Cats managed to overcome a sluggish start on offense by breaking up the scoreless contest in the top of the third inning with one run.

BC continued to increase their lead in the fourth and fifth inning to claim a 5-0 lead, before the Lady Tomcats cashed in their only run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Bogue Chitto would increase their lead to 7-1 in the top of the seventh inning and relied on their strong defense to secure the win.

Alana Nettles was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cats with four strikeouts and no walks.

Macy Spiers absorbed the loss for the Lady Tomcats with no strikeouts and two walks.

Terrah Nelson was the top slugger for BC with a triple and a double. Zariah Matthews contributed two singles. Hitting safely were Mattie Avants, Daley Roberts, Alana Nettles, Christian Black and Jordan McKinney.

Spiers directed Stone’s offense with two singles. Megan Morse, Makayla Herrin, Hannag Martinez, Aleyia Howie and Kaitlyn Hammell hit safely.
