Funeral services for Robert Summers Jr. of Lincoln County are 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Summers, 88, died at his home on Easter Sunday morning, April 20, 2014. He was born on Dec.23, 1925, in Lincoln County, where he lived most of his life.

After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he graduated from Mississippi State University and worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for thirty-three years. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church in Brookhaven before joining First Baptist Church of Madison in his later years.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert Summers, Sr. and Addie Green Summers of Brookhaven; and two sisters, Sarah Summers of Jackson, and Jo Ann Tindel of Denver, Colo.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita Greer Summers, to whom he was married for over 64 years; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert David Summers and Paula Parker Summers of Midland, Mich.; one daughter, Gail Summers Evans of Ridgeland; a brother, Julius Summers of Brookhaven; a sister-in-law, Jean Greer of Jackson, and four grandchildren; Parker Summers, Courteney Evans, Paige Summers, and Lauren Evans.

In lieu of flowers, friends may wish to consider memorial contributions to First Baptist Church, Madison.
