Lady Cats defeat Florence, PRC

FLORENCE – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats captured two warm-up wins in Saturday softball action.
The Lady Cats defeated the Florence Lady Eagles 11-0 and edged Pearl River Central 5-4 in a post season warm-up before starting their playoff race.
“It was a good day and a good warm-up for us to start the playoffs,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. Now it is time for our favorite time of the season.”
The Lady Cats (21-6) will start their playoff march Monday at they travel to Walthall County to take on the Salem Lady Wildcats for game one starting at 6 p.m. Bogue Chitto returns home to host Salem Tuesday for a possible doubleheader starting at 5 p.m.
BC 11, Florence 0
Alana Nettles dominated the pitcher’s mound for the Lady Cats, collecting seven strikeouts and no walks in five innings of work.
MacKenzie Harns suffered the loss for the Lady Eagles with one strikeout and six walks.
Mattie Avants powered the BC’s offensive charge with a triple and a single. Mallory Allen contributed two singles. Colby Kirkland had a double. Hitting safely were Daley Roberts, Alexis Givens, Zariah Matthews and Nettles.
Amber Cain and Hope Harrington recorded the only hits for Florence with a single apiece.
BC 5, PRC 4
The Lady Cats and Lady Blue Devils provided an exciting defensive game for their softball fans.
Christian Black was the winning pitcher for BC with six strikeouts and two walks.
Taylor Harris suffered the loss for the Lady Blue Devils with six strikeouts and two walks.
Nettles was the offensive leader for the Lady Cats with a double and a single. Kirkland ripped a double. Black, Avants, Roberts, Matthews and Allen hit safely.
Autum McNeely, Shelby Lauzon, Brooklyn Kirk and Kimberly Gutierrez paced the Lady Blue Devils at the plate with a single each.
