Pascagoula ends Ole Brook season

PASCAGOULA – The Brookhaven Panthers saw their season come to an end Friday night after falling to the Pascagoula Panthers 5-2 in Game Two of the first round of the Class 5A state baseball playoffs.

The Panthers, coached by Randy Spring, finished their season with a 16-14 record overall and earned a 6-3 record in Region 6-5A action.

In a battle of Panthers, Pascagoula and Brookhaven fought hard in a defensive contest.

Pascagoula managed to score the first run of the contest in the bottom of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead.

Ole Brook managed to get their offensive going in the fourth inning and gain a slim 2-1 lead.

Pascagoula answered in the fifth and sixth innings as they outscored Ole Brook 4-0 to secured the win and eliminate the Lincoln County based Panthers from the playoffs.

Hayden Hamm was the winning pitcher for Pascagoula with one strikeout and one walk. James Pugh (2K, 1BB) collects the save in relief.

Reed Jones suffered the loss for the Ole Brook Panthers with six strikeouts and no walks. Myles Tipton (0K. 0BB) pitched one inning in relief.

Michael Lambert and Blaine Moak were the offensive leader at the plate for Brookhaven with a double apiece. Tipton hit a single.

Will Inlow powered the Pascagoula Panthers offense with a home run and a single. Carley Reynolds contributed a double and a single. Drew Dunn and Antonio Williams provided a double apiece. Hitting safely were Slater McCarty, Hayden Hamm and Kristopher Morris.
