Funeral services for Edward L. “Mut” Brown of Brookhaven are 11 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014, at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church with burial in the church cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday, May 1, 2014, from 1 until 6 p.m. at Williams Mortuary.

Mr. Brown, 76, died April 27, 2014, at the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Veterans Medical Center in Jackson. He was born on Sept. 30, 1937, in Lincoln County, the only child of Earnest and Luada Benson Brown.

He graduated from Alexander High School in 1958, and attended college at Tennessee State University. He retired from the United States Army in 1990, after 28 years of service and earning the rank of Sergeant Major. He was a member of Kynett United Methodist Church in Brookhaven.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Henrietta Bryant-Brown; ex-wife, Mae Robinson-Brown.

Survivors are his son, LaMonte Brown and his wife, Nikki; daughter, Ouida Brown, M.D.; brothers, Lonnie B. Shannon, John L. Shannon; sister, Bernice Adams; aunt, Helen Benson; and many other relatives and friends.
