Funeral services for Elsie Kathryn Carroll Davis of Brookhaven are 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Saturday, May 3, 2014, from noon until time of service.

Mrs. Davis, 92, died April 29, 2014, at her residence. She was born on June 25, 1921, in Liberty to Milton Omer Carroll and Pinky Germany Carroll, she then grew up in Centreville.

Mrs. Davis was a graduate of Louisiana State University and a member of Phi Mu; upon graduation she returned to Centerville to teach. While working for an attorney for the War Department to establish Camp Van Dorn in Centreville, she met her future husband, Raymond Loyd Davis, when he was assigned there. She was later the co-owner of The Little Shoppe, a ladies clothing store in Centreville. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Brookhaven and was also a member of The Climbers Club of Brookhaven and the Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of 61 years, Raymond Lloyd Davis; an infant son, Kenneth Raymond Davis; and her sisters Yvonne Carroll Gray and Omer Jean Carroll Hetzler.

Survivors are her son, Omer Carroll Davis and his wife, Marybeth, of Baton Rouge; granddaughter, Sarah Davis north and her husband, Denny North, of San Jose, Calif.; grandson, John Wood Davis and his wife, Stacy Talbott Davis, of Nashville; niece, Pamela Gray Napier and her husband, Regiel Napier; nephew, James Herbert Gray and his wife, Melinda Henson Gray, all of Hattiesburg; and a sister-in-law, Kay Davis of Elkton, Md.

The family wishes to thank her physician, Dr. Joe Moak, for his skillful care and her caregiver, Julie Wallace Davis, for her love and dedication.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Camp Von Dorn World War II Museum, PO Box 1113, Centreville, MS 39631 or to the First United Methodist Church of Brookhaven, PO Box 358, Brookhaven, MS 39602.
