Funeral services for Robert Earl “Squirrel” Smith of Brookhaven are 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, with burial in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Wednesday, April 30, 2014, from 9 until time of service.
Mr. Smith, 62, died April 25, 2014, at his residence. He was born on April 17, 1952, in McComb to James Roy Smith and Dixie Martha Brumfield Smith.
He was an offshore worker with Penrod Drilling and a former worker with Central Body Shop in Brookhaven. He was an outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He played drums in various bands including CPR and Lincoln Express. He also sang in the choir at Macedonia. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and brother, James Lea Shirley.
Survivors are his son, Christopher Daniel Smith of Brookhaven; two brothers, Wayne Smith and wife, Beaverly C. Smith, of Brookhaven, Tome June Myers of McComb; two sisters, Clara May Lowe of McComb and Mary Martha Hudson of Brookhaven; nieces, Judy Ballard and Tina Marie Smith, both of Brookhaven; close relatives, Shawn and Erica Keeton of Brookhaven; and also numerous nieces and nephews.
